The reception of articles for Balkan Award 2012 up to 30 of May 2012

BioSystems S.A. is sponsoring annually the BALKAN AWARD for Clinical Laboratory Research with the collaboration of the different societies in the countries within the Balkans region.

The aims of the Balkan Award are:

  • To stimulate research among laboratory professionals
  • To acknowledge laboratory professionals who are carrying out research

WINNER
Raluca Dumache, from the Biochemistry Department of University of Medicine and Pharmacy "Victor Babes" in Timisoara with paper entitled "New molecular biomarkers used in the diagnosis, prognosis and therapeutical approach in prostate cancer".

SECOND
Emmanuel Batakis
from Hormone Laboratory, of the "Aretaieio" Hospital in Athens, and with the paper. Evaluation of asymmetric dimethylarginine (ADMA) throughout normal pregnancy, in pregnancies with small for gestational age infants and in preeclampsia.

Marica Marković from the Institute of Medical Biochemistry, Clinical Center of Serbia in Belgrade (Serbia) is the WINNER of Balkan Award 2007. with the article titled  "Short-term hyperthermia prevents activation of proinflammatory genes in fibroblast-like synoviocytes by blocking the activation of the transcription factor nf-?b"

FINALIST:
Christina Kostara from the Laboratory of Clinical Chemistry of Medical School of University of Ioannina (Greece ) as finalist with the article titled "Investigation of lipidemic profile in patients with coronary
heart disease (chd) by proton nuclear magnetic resonance (1h nmr) spectroscopy and pattern-recognition techniques".
